Marina, best known for her Marina and the Diamonds era, turned Stage AE into a heart-filled sing-along on Monday on her Princess of Power tour.
The night began with opener Mallrat, whose bedroom-pop music eased the crowd in. Songs like “Charlie” and “Groceries” made the crowd energetic. Mallrat knew that she was underground, so she also played covers by well-known artists, such as Lana Del Rey’s ¨Radio.¨
When Marina took the stage, the energy shifted. She opened with “Princess of Power.” From there, the setlist included “I Am Not a Robot,” and longtime fans sang along. “Primadonna” and “How to Be a Heartbreaker” then turned the venue into a dance floor.
Marina played songs that are fan favorites, such as ¨Hermit the Frog,” that had the audience singing.
She also made sure to play her more meaningful songs. Marina slowed things down with quieter moments, showcasing her emotions. The crowd sang to the high-energy pop songs but listened to the meaningful ones.
At the end of the night, Marina closed with “I <3 YOU,” sending the crowd home with a heartfelt message.
Overall, Marina’s Pittsburgh show proved that she can still blend pop fun with emotional honesty and keep fans shouting the lyrics all night long.
