The Baldwin girls tennis team defeated South Park 6-4 on Tuesday.
Senior Ava Faust thinks the Highlanders did a good job getting to the ball against a team of similar skill.
“Because South Park is the same level as us, it’s a challenge for both of us,” Faust said. ”We did well getting to the ball, and I think that it was pretty good that we were able to return the points.”
Senior Chelsea Luxemburger played excellent tennis, losing in a tiebreaker, Faust said.
“It was a really competitive game, but she kept her effort,” Faust said.
South Park did well in serving and communicating with each other, she said.
“Their communication was pretty good; being able to communicate with each other makes the game flow a little bit better,” she said. “They have good relationships with their other teammates.”
Even though Baldwin had a good game, Faust still sees room for improvement.
“We need to improve our serving. Their serves were really good, and some of ours may not have been as good.”
Faust has a positive outlook on the upcoming matches and thinks the team has grown a lot since the start of the season.
“We’re better at being supportive and communicative overall,” she said. “We have lots of good friendships and agree with each other. We are there for one another.”
The Baldwin girls tennis team will have their first playoff game on Monday after wrapping up the regular season.
