The Summer I Turned Pretty brings a divided fan base together in its final season with many plot twists and heart-wrenching scenes.
The Amazon Prime show is about a girl named Isabel, or Belly. Belly and the Fisher brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, stay together in the same house every summer.
Belly has always been in love with Conrad, but she starts to question herself and her feelings for him after Jeremiah becomes involved and her relationship with Conrad falls to pieces. The series has had 25 million fans taking sides, supporting one brother or the other.
When the third season opens, Belly has been in a lengthy relationship with Jeremiah. She then discovers that he has cheated on her and breaks up with him. But then, in a surprising twist, he proposes to her and she says yes.
From that point on, many of the episodes focus on the upcoming wedding. During the planning, flaws within Jeremiah and Belly’s relationship are exposed. The door has been left open for Conrad, who makes a dramatic love confession to her the night before her wedding.
Belly is then stuck choosing between the former love of her life and her fiancé. Belly is caught in the middle, with the Fisher brothers playing tug of war for her for the final episodes of the season.
The organizers of the show strategically organized the plot so that many fans were driven to look for a specific ending.
