After two years, Hardy is back to his country roots with his newest album, Country! Country!
Hardy, originally a songwriter from Mississippi, skyrocketed to popularity around 2020, through his country music features and by writing with artists such as Morgan Wallen, Ernest, and Dierks Bentley.
In 2024, Hardy released Quit!!, a full-fledged rock album and unlike anything he had done before. He went on to feature in a song with Falling In Reverse, a popular rock band.
However, he is now back to country music, and the first song on the album, “Country Country,” shows his country roots and his meaningful storytelling.
This album contains two features, from two of Hardy’s friends. The first song, “Bro Country,” features Ernest, and it subtly pokes fun at the genre of bro country for not sounding like it used to, in a slow song format. The other feature is Stephen Wilson Jr. on the song “Bedrooms In The Sky,” and the two artists work well together to sing about the lifestyle of living rural life.
“Y’all Need Jesus” has earned immense social media praise, with fans calling it the best song on the record. It has a mix of his country and rock, while he calls out the people who criticize him for being himself.
Longtime listeners of Hardy should enjoy this new release, and rock fans should still appreciate the album, as well.
