The Baldwin girls soccer team defeated Belle Vernon on Thursday, 2-1.
Freshman Avery Lieu said Baldwin did well with possession.
“We did a good job of keeping possession of the ball,” Lieu said. “We also pressured their defense, giving us our two goals.”
Junior Kelsey Meyer scored the two goals for the Highlanders. Lieu said sophomore Tenley Fry also stood out for the Highlanders.
“No matter where the ball was, she was always there for support,” she said. “She made herself an option (to pass to).”
Lieu credited Belle Vernon with playing a strong game.
“Belle Vernon came out very strong and was great competition for us to end our week with,” she said.
While the start of the season began rough, the Highlanders are looking to have a strong end to the season.
“The start of the season was an adjustment for our team, but I think now we have learned to play as a team,” Lieu said. “It’s looking really good for us in the upcoming games.
Baldwin’s next game is away at Mt. Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
