The boys soccer team fell 3-0 to West Allegheny Thursday night at home.
Senior Zach Lieu said West Allegheny’s offense took the opportunities when they were presented, giving them the win.
“West Allegheny did a really good job moving the ball across the field and taking advantage of their attacking opportunities,” Lieu said.
Senior team captain Alex Weber agreed with Lieu, saying West Allegheny took more shots overall and eventually broke through.
There were two open scoring opportunities that the Highlanders needed to convert on, but they did not, Weber said.
Lieu said despite West Allegheny’s good offense, junior goalkeeper Eli Schuchert had a great game.
“He made a lot of great saves, and every time he did, he brought the energy back to where it needed to be,” Lieu said.
At practice and in future games, the team plans to work on their intensity.
“The team will work on 100 percent intensity for the full 80 minutes of the game. Once we are able to give our everything for the entire game, that’s when everything will click and change for us,” Lieu said.
The Highlanders face Moon Township at home on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m.
