The marching band hosted and competed in a Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association competition over the weekend.
The band was not scored officially since Baldwin was hosting the event. However, they received an unofficial score of 77.25, which band members were very happy with.
Junior Nyssa Kolocuris said the marching band is ahead of where they were last season.
“It is way better than last year. We have our full show on the field – it’s cleaned and everything,” Kolocuris said.
Senior Jonathan Pickell is proud of their performance.
“Our biggest strength was definitely our energy. We were very excited to be performing for our home crowd,” Pickell said.
Sophomore Samantha Hackman was one of the standouts for Baldwin, Kolocuris said.
“She practices non-stop. She is always trying to get her weapons worked out, no matter what, even if it frustrates her,” Kolocuris said. “She’s always working and trying to improve.”
Among all the Baldwin fans, the football team made an appearance to show support for the band.
“The football team was there, which was very nice,” Pickell said. “There were a lot of people there for us, and it felt good.”
Moving forward, the team plans to work on their visuals, flag and riffle timing, and formations. Their next competition is this weekend at Norwin.
