Junior golfers Michael Quallich and Logan Siefert on Monday qualified for WPIAL championships.
Quallich won the section championship by posting the lowest score in the field, shooting a three under par 69.
“Mikey did what I knew he could do,” Siefert said. “It’s great going out there and being able to compete with him.”
Last year, as a sophomore, Quallich finished second at WPIAL championships.
Siefert also played an all-around good round of golf on Monday, but his putting stood out to him.
“My putting was by far the best part of my game,” Siefert said. “Hopefully I can carry that into the WPIAL finals and give myself the best chance to compete.”
Seifert hopes he can place in the top 32, so he could qualify for the state championship.
“My main goal for this next round is to play smart golf and do what I need to do to qualify for states,” Siefert said.
Siefert believes the best way to do that is to stay consistent off the tee along with continuing to putt well.
“I definitely need to get off the tee more accurately,” Siefert said. “I also need to limit higher scores on par fives.”
As much as Siefert is ready to go out and compete, he is just excited for the opportunity.
“I am excited for this experience because it is my first time qualifying, and I look forward to being there with Mikey to see what we can do,” Siefert said.
Quallich and Siefert will be playing in the WPIAL championships on Monday at Willowbrook Golf Course.
