Senior tennis players Chelsea Luxemburger and Isabella Korey both won the first round of singles sectionals matches on Wednesday, but lost in the second round.
“Bella Korey and I both moved on after our first match, and then both lost our second matches to good competition,” Luxemburger said.
In her first match, against an opponent from Penn Hills, Luxemburger said she played a consistent game, winning 10-1.
In the second round, though, Korey and Luxemburger fell to opponents from Shadyside and Fox Chapel, respectively.
“The girl from Fox Chapel who I lost to was very consistent and good at placing the ball in places I couldn’t get to,” Luxemburger said.
Luxemburger wants to improve on some skills for upcoming matches.
“I definitely want to work on placement of the ball and my overall power,” Luxemburger said.
Section doubles is upcoming. The team will find out who will be competing in section doubles in two weeks.
