The Baldwin boys soccer team lost to Chartiers Valley 3-2 in overtime on Thursday night.
Senior Alex Weber credited Chartiers Valley’s ability to possess the ball for long periods of time.
“They controlled the ball very well,” Weber said. “They played a clean game and capitalized on their opportunities.”
The Highlanders can also improve on winning the ball out of the air.
“When they play the ball long, we have to do a better job of possessing the ball after that and not giving them more opportunities than we should,” Weber said.
The Highlanders battled throughout the game but came up short in overtime.
“The game was back and forth,” Weber said. “Our energy was great throughout regulation and overtime but we just couldn’t close it out.”
Seniors Gavin Ries and Jackson Presto scored goals for the Highlanders, keeping them in the game.
“Gavin’s penalty kick was huge for us,” Weber said. “It gave us momentum to score another goal.”
The Highlanders look to pick up their first win on Tuesday at home against Blackhawk at 7 p.m.
