The NFL season kicks off with an NFC division rivalry tonight, with the dominant Philadelphia Eagles taking on the struggling Dallas Cowboys.
The Eagles are looking strong again this year, led by star running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Jalen Hurts, who were both amazing last year. It’s going to be hard for the Cowboys to stop this strong Eagles offense.
When the Eagles get down to the third yard line or closer, they rely most on the Tush Push. Hurts runs a QB dive right up the middle and has his O line push and drag him into the end zone.
This play has been successful in the past. There was an effort to ban the Tush Push at the league meeting last spring, but it failed, so the play is still legal.
Meanwhile, it shouldn’t be hard for the Eagles defense to stop the Cowboys offense, because the Eagles have a big defensive line, and quarterback Dak Prescott hasn’t been performing his best in the past two seasons. Cornerback Cooper DeJean played amazing in the Super Bowl, so he will probably do pretty well tonight.
Former Steelers receiver George Pickens is now a Cowboy. In the past, he has either performed really well with many impressive catches, or been a disappointment. He has a tendency to pick up penalties after catches by taunting his opponent.
As a result, the Cowboys are going to have to rely on running back Miles Sanders to carry the offense.
This game could go either way, but the Eagles should pull away with the win because of their experience and good coaching.
