Nostalgia, the new album from Mother Mother, is a little slower-sounding than their three previous albums.
At the beginning of the album, the tone is one of childlike innocence. As the record continues, the mood becomes more serious.
“Love to Death” and “Finger” have been released as singles, and they are among the louder and faster songs on the album. They also cover more serious topics, with “Finger” covering the sexism women face.
“Me and You” and “Little Mistake” are examples of the slower songs in the album. “Me and You” talks about the love two people have for each other, and “Little Mistake” explains that a small mistake can feel life-altering.
One drawback is that the instrumentals in the album sometimes sound like wannabe indie rock, instead of their usual chaotic sound. While this will shock fans, some likely will love it.
Overall, fans of Mother Mother should give the album a listen, as it is still really good.
