Key Glock’s new album, Glockaveli has a few strong songs, but it will disappoint some hip hop fans.
His rapping style and technicality can be referred back to Tory Lanez and has even been compared to 2Pac. Standout tracks from the album include “Blue Devil,” “Hallelujah,” “No Sweat,” and “Made a Way.”
The title of the track “Watch da’ Throne,” is a homage to Jay Z, who had a song of the same title that featured Kayne West in 2011. Another track, “Kill My Vibe,” is homage to Kendrick Lamar, who also had a song of that title.
The song “Sunny Dayz” comes from the effects of fame and what he gained and lost from making music. He raps, “Now the dark days are gone, the bright days are here.”
However, the album cover is Glock posed looking up with a crown of thorns, which was historically worn by Jesus. It caused a stir in the media.
In his song “Blue Devil,” Glock raps, “They treat me like Jesus Christ.” Throughout the verses he raps about how much he’s like Jesus and how much he thinks he sacrificed for the life he has.
It is easy to vibe to Glock’s music, though his content is rather questionable.
