Located in Mt. Lebanon on West Liberty Avenue, Katana Sushi Hibachi and Chinese meets every standard of the suburban sushi restaurant. The fish is fresh, a plate of General Tso’s Chicken is one page flip away, and most importantly, everything tastes slightly above average. This statement especially applies to the sushi. Katana serves sushi that is made right in front of the diner but is far from being straight out of the ocean. The wasabi and ginger served along with it also are guilty of dullness, as they don’t have any notable qualities. The menu obtains its variety from topping loaded and fried rolls rather than adventuring into the finer side of sushi. Although Katana is typical as can be, there is one unique service offered that is rare to see in the South Hills. For $23.95, Katana offers an “all you can eat” experience that allows the customer to try almost every option on the sushi menu and some of the Chinese menu. Overall, Katana is a great place for empty stomachs and passable for one-roll intentions.
