The Mission: Impossible franchise ends with a bang as Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) makes the impossible possible, one last time.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning picks up where the first film in this two-parter left off, with The Entity threatening to wipe humanity from existence.
In this finale, Hunt is after the source code of The Entity in an attempt to stop it before it kills all humans. He goes through a wild adventure, going to the freezing waters of Alaska to the heat of Africa.
Cruise plays Hunt well, capturing his humorous personality even under pressure. The core cast also performs well.
The most impressive stunt in this movie is Cruise holding onto a flying airplane while the pilot is trying to throw him off. Cruise does all this and then manages to gain control of the plane.
The AI villain concept is realistic too, addressing fears people may have today with the sudden rise of artificial intelligence.
The movie’s large budget was used well, with good props and CGI. But the movie has issues with pacing: Its exposition is overdone, which leads to a sluggish feel in the first half.
Despite this, though, the good outweighs the bad, and action fans must watch this movie.
