Tom Hanks is best known for his likable and believable characters, roles that have led to four Golden Globe Awards, two Academy Awards, and seven Emmy Awards.
Hanks got his start studying acting in college. He worked as an intern for a theater, doing stage management, lighting, and set design, furthering his love for acting.
He managed to get a few small roles, but his big break came in 1984 in the romantic-comedy Splash. Since then, he has starred in 77 movies – and he has even hosted Saturday Night Live 10 times.
