Baldwin’s softball team lost 4-3 in their first-round playoff game against North Hills on Monday, officially wrapping up their season.
Despite holding the lead early, the Highlanders later fell behind.
“A few girls got on base by getting walked, and then they had two hits with runners in scoring positions,” senior Ryley Shaw said. “They were hitting more with runners in scoring positions than we were.”
Freshman pitcher Camryn Temme agreed that North Hills did a good job at the plate.
“They hit well. There were only two hits, but they scored the four runs,” Temme said.
The close score shows that the Highlanders battled, said Shaw, who also commended Temme for her strong performance.
“I thought we hit well in the beginning, and we were winning most of the game,” Shaw said. “Camryn played very well. She pitched the whole game for us, and she had a home run.”
This was the team’s first time going to playoffs in many years. Temme said she felt it was a good game.
“It was cool because we haven’t been to playoffs since like 2018,” Temme said. “Even though we lost, it’s a good achievement and a stepping stone for next year.”
Temme said part of the reason that the Highlanders made the playoffs was because of their team coordination.
“I feel like we had a lot of chemistry this year. We worked really well together,” Temme said. “Our defense was also good this year.”
