Baldwin boys lacrosse lost to Penn-Trafford on Monday, 16-4.
The boys struggled against Penn-Trafford’s transitions and ball movement on offense.
“They moved the ball up the field really well,” senior Gavin Serafini said. “That allowed them to set up on offense.”
Baldwin kept the game close for the first half. But then senior Cenzo Pacella was injured and had to leave the game, contributing to Penn-Trafford taking control of play. Junior Alex Myers thought Pacella had been a key player in the game before his injury.
“We had a strong defense during the first half of the game. Cenzo had a really big impact on our defense as the captain,” Myers said.
The boys found it hard to keep up with the fast pace of Penn-Trafford.
“The other team was very shifty, whereas our team wasn’t because we just don’t have enough confidence with the ball. Their shots were pretty good too because they had fast ball movements and high game IQ,” Myers said.
The Highlanders’ goals were scored by Serafini, senior Teegan Berry, senior Trevor Brain, and senior Ethan McLuckie.
“Trevor played well and had assists and created goals for himself,” Serafini said.
Senior Dom Brown also stood out with his high energy.
“He always gets us hype before the games. Even during bad weather or losing, he keeps us up,” Serafini said.
The boys still need to put effort in and continue to work on their game.
“We need to get better at moving to become open for a clear, to then take it down the field and create scoring opportunities,” Serafini said.
The team is set to face South Fayette away on Thursday.
