Sophomore Melina DeFelice threw a no-hitter on Monday as the Baldwin softball team defeated Albert Gallatin 15-0.
“This was a great accomplishment and shows all the hard work paying off,” DeFelice said.
She was aided by the team’s clean defense.
“We worked together really well – especially in the field, by not making a single error, to keep them from scoring,” DeFelice said.
Junior Mckenzie Bowen and senior Gabby Jaquay also played a good game, she said.
“Gabby and Kenzie both played well all around – in the field along with at the plate, contributing hits,” DeFelice said.
The Highlanders were aggressive the whole game, both at the plate and on the basepaths.
“We came out hot, scoring runs and stealing bases early, which gave us good momentum to start out the game,” DeFelice said.
The Highlanders will keep working, especially with playoffs right around the corner.
“If we want to compete in the playoffs this year, we are going to have to keep the energy up as a team in the second half of games,” DeFelice said.
The Highlanders will go on the road to take on the Trinity Hillers next Tuesday at 6:30p.m.
