The Baldwin boys lacrosse team secured its first victory in over two seasons with a 19-4 win over Gateway on Friday night.
Senior Gavin Serafini said the win provides a boost for the team going into the final few games of this year.
“It’s a great confidence booster, and it feels really great for the guys who have been playing on the team since freshman year to get them a win,” Serafini said.
Senior Ethan McLuckie described the win as a team effort.
“Everyone on the team contributed by scoring goals and playing tough defense,” McLuckie said.
This victory gave the whole team an idea of what it takes to start winning more often.
“This confidence boost will help us with every game from now on because we now know what it takes to win a game and be very competitive,” Serafini said.
There were two seniors who stood out to junior Evan Szpara.
“Trevor Brain and Teegan Berry really stood out,” Szpara said. “They both played for the team the whole game and did exactly what we expected them to do the whole game.”
Berry led the way with six goals, while Brain had two goals and seven assists.
Moving forward, the team knows what to work on.
“We had way too many penalties in that game,” McLuckie said. “They could have been costly in a closer game.”
The team’s next game is at home tonight against Trinity.
