The United States Women’s National Soccer Team will face Brazil in two upcoming matches on Saturday and Tuesday in California.
This roster features several players who have never played with the national team before, including Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Avery Patterson. This is also Patterson’s first call-up to a national team camp.
There are also several veteran players returning for the first time in a while, including Trinity Rodman and Mia Fishel. The national team has been struggling to score goals recently, so having these two strong veteran offensive players back will be important.
This will be Fishel’s first time with the national team since February 2024, when she tore her ACL. Rodman has not been featured on a national team roster since the 2024 Olympics in France.
Overall, this is a relatively young roster, as the average age is 25 years old. There are two teenagers featured on the roster: Claire Hutton and Lily Yohannes.
Hutton and Yohannes have both played with the team before, showing off their impressive skills. Most players that they face are in their 20s to late 30s, which shows their incredible talent.
The team has been struggling to find a new star goalkeeper after Alyssa Naeher retired, so these games will be a test for the less experienced keepers.
The roster is also missing an important defender, Tierna Davidson. Davidson was originally placed on the roster but recently suffered an ACL injury, which ended her season. Davidson was replaced by young defender Gisele Thompson.
Brazil is a tough competitor, so these matches will be a real challenge for an inexperienced team.
Both matches will be shown on Universo and Peacock. The game on Saturday will be at 5 p.m., and the game on Tuesday will be at 10:30 p.m.
