Led by senior Milana Winowich’s five goals, the Baldwin girls lacrosse team defeated Greater Latrobe 14-7 on Wednesday night.
“Milana Winowich stood out because she had five goals. Before the fourth quarter, she gave our team a pep talk and pushed us to give our all the last quarter,” senior Aliza Very said.
Senior Alexa Sherman agreed.
“For the entirety of the game Milana’s communication was great, and she never failed to lift us up during each period to make sure we didn’t get down on ourselves,” Sherman said.
Very said the team did well transitioning from defense to offense.
“Our transitions up the field to offense were extremely good. We passed to everyone and played as a team,” she said.
On offense, Sherman would try to create movement for her teammates so they could work better in the game.
“I think Olivia O’Malley also contributed a lot to the win because she created a lot of turnovers and great draw control,” Sherman said.
Other scorers in the game were Very with four, Sherman with two, O’Malley with one, junior Taylor Hucic with one, and senior Brooklyn Joyce with one.
Along with offensive accomplishments, Very is only five goals away from getting 100 career goals.
The team’s record is now 2-2 for the season. Their next game is away against Canon-McMillan on Monday night.
