The boys tennis team got shut out by Alderdice on Wednesday, 5-0.
Senior Kelson Kleinhampl said Allderdice had good technique – especially with their serves. Senior Sam Vogel believes that Baldwin, especially when playing in doubles, needs to work on working together.
“I think in terms of doubles, we could have had better communication,” he said.
Regardless, Kleinhampl said Baldwin still fought hard and kept spirits up.
“And our team was good at keeping a good mindset,” he said.
Kleinhampl said junior Nikita Petrick stands out on the team and has been showcasing good technique.
“He had a great serve and forehand,” he said.
Vogel agreed.
“Nikita does well all the time. He’s really consistent,” Vogel said.
Kleinhampl said the team will continue to work on their net play and responding to serves.
Vogel believes that even this loss will help the Highlanders in the future because it is always good to compete against talented opponents.
Overall, Kleinhampl said he is proud of how the season has started.
“This is definitely the best we have done in the past four years,” he said.
The team hopes to make it to WPIALs but hasn’t secured a spot yet. The Highlanders plays on Monday at home against Keystone Oaks.
