With freshman Camryn Temme throwing a no-hitter, the Baldwin softball team shut out Butler 11-0 on Friday.
Senior Ryley Shaw applauded the Highlanders’ efforts.
“We performed really well, putting runs up on the board early in the game, and our defense was pretty strong,” Shaw said.
Shaw highlighted Temme’s performance on the mound.
“She threw a no-hitter as a freshman. She is also a really good hitter as well,” Shaw said.
Temme pitched the whole game for Baldwin.
“I feel honored to be on varsity since I’m only a freshman, but it’s also nerve-racking sometimes,” Temme said.
The Highlanders did a great job at the plate, she said.
“We hit a lot and scored a lot of runs,” Temme said.
Despite the success, Shaw is focused on maintaining the team’s momentum.
“We need to keep the high energy levels and keep hitting from the beginning of the game,” Shaw said.
The team’s next game is on Friday against Peters Township, which will be their first section game of the season.
