The Baldwin boys lacrosse team lost 10-2 to Fox Chapel on Thursday.
Despite the loss, junior Alex Myers said there were some good aspects of Baldwin’s play.
“We went in wanting to win, and we didn’t get that,” Myers said. “But we played hard, and the guys were really pumped. That was probably one of the best games we’ve played so far.”
Myers, who was the goalie, made 21 saves out of 31 shots on net. Overall, the game represented a drastic improvement from last season’s game against Fox Chapel, when Baldwin lost 23-2.
Senior Joseph O’Neill said Baldwin had strong defense, but there is still room to improve.
“I think we did pretty well on defense,” he said. “We just need to play more as a team and work on our plays.”
Myers agreed that Baldwin’s defense stood out during the game.
“Cenzo (Pacella) stood out because he was able to rally the team a lot,” Myers said.
Myers added that junior Cole Reed, who is in his first season back to lacrosse, played great offense.
“Cole was really confident with the ball and he had some good movements,” Myers said.
Moving forward, the team has to work on “working the ball around the offense,” O’Neill said.
Their record is now 0-2. Their next game is Saturday at Canon-Mac.
