Bugs found in the high school last week were determined not to be bed bugs, Supt. Dr. Randal Lutz said in an email to students and families on Thursday night.
“I am happy to report that the exterminator responded to Baldwin High School this afternoon and confirmed that the bugs were not bed bugs and any area in which they were reported was treated,” Lutz said in the Thursday email.
Lutz also shot down any rumors of the school being “bombed,” saying “any treatment done by the professionals is safe for students and staff,” he said.
Lutz said the school was safe and that students should be in school, with any absence due to the bug threat being deemed an illegal absence.
Earlier on Thursday, the district had sent students and families an email saying that bugs had been found in two students’ belongings.
