The Baldwin girls lacrosse team lost 15-1 to North Hills on Friday.
Senior Aliza Very said the team needs to work on their defense and draws.
“We need to work on following the other team’s cutters, so we don’t give up open shots,” Very said. “We also need to work on winning more draws.”
Very credited North Hills’ pace.
“They were very fast, which allowed them to get open for themselves,” she said.
Junior Lexie Iwaniuk said North Hills was strong on both offense and defense.
“North Hills played well offensively by cutting a lot and making off ball movement,” Iwaniuk said. “They also stayed strong on defense and did not let us get in the (crease).”
Despite the result, Very said there were still some positives for the Highlanders.
“Even though we only scored once, our offense played well, but the North Hills goalie made some nice saves,” Very said.
Very scored the only goal for the Highlanders.
“I scored off a pick and roll,” she said.
Iwaniuk thought Baldwin had good communication and continued playing through the game without letting the score get the better of them.
“Our mindset (going forward) is to be positive and be more aggressive overall but especially for ground balls,” Iwaniuk said.
The Highlanders next play Armstrong at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Baldwin’s first home game of the season.
