Polarizing underground rapper Harto Falion’s new album, The Hurtless, sets the standard for an impressive, long-lasting career.
The Hurtless is once again another successful collaboration album, with production almost entirely from Surf Gang’s Evilgiane, who has been a longtime collaborator of Falion’s. Giane and Falion have amazing chemistry through their work together, which spans almost four years.
The track “Ph” is the most alluring song off the album, since it has a very innovative sound that Falion does quite well with. The beat consists of breakcore drums, being made more techno heavy by the introduction of synths. Falion easily blends verses and ad libs to create a very good song that could easily chart if projects like this received more attention from the public eye.
One of the more listenable tracks, which is also reminiscent of Falion’s old sound, is “Keep! Out!” The track features classic spacey production from Giane, while Falion delivers melancholic verses and choruses. Despite this album being a little bit of a stretch from Falion’s regular material, “Keep! Out!” is easily the most digestible track for the average music lover.
Staying on theme with an almost-classic Falion styled track is “Different Places Still Feel Familiar.” This is the perfect midpoint between Falion’s new sound and the sound that got him his loyal cult following. This perfected blend shows a nice step up from some of Falion’s previous work, while keeping the song original and entertaining.
Falion seems to have a better flow over his verses, while Giane’s beats seem to have become more tailored to Falion’s style. It all creates an achievable and promising future for the artist.
