Indoor percussion placed third and indoor color guard placed seventh in their competition at Hempfield on Saturday.
The guard performed their show “Break Free,” celebrating the feeling of freedom. The percussion show is called “When the Forest Calls.
Guard captain senior Emma Smerbeck is proud of how the guard moved together throughout their show.
“Our connection of all the parts of the show was good last week,” Smerbeck said. “We were in sync for certain parts and it looked really good.”
Smerbeck said that both eighth-grader Leah Stanley and sophomore Melody Latt have been helping her and the other captains lead practices on occasion.
“Leah’s been doing amazing with the flag work,” Smerbeck said. “She always knows what she’s doing with the choreography.”
Smerbeck said that the guard is continuing to work together to make each part of the show more synchronous.
The color guard’s next competition is against many schools in their division at home on Saturday.
