Tastemaker is the newest project released by the underground phenomenon Bby Goyard, with this latest piece of music delivering new styles that Goyard excels in.
Goyard utilizes a fusion of rap and rock, and he dabbles in some jazzy beats. However, the main substance for Tastemaker is the grungy guitar riffs, which are enhanced with minimal but noticeable distortion and impressive vocal mixing.
The track “We Shape Messages,” featuring Sniper2004 and Henry Mosto, is the most concrete example of Goyard’s new style and why it fits him so well. It starts off with a cool and interesting sample of Siouxsie and the Banshees. Then it transitions into an immaculate guitar riff that all three artists dominate through their excellent verses and choruses.
This fusion of rock and rap is obviously nothing new to music; however, the way Goyard does it brings something new to the table.
On the track “Suspiria,” featuring Danny Kyioko, Goyard experiments more with a nu-metal blend of sound coming closer to a Deftones or Linkin Park type of song, with intense screaming vocals and aggressive riffs.
The track “Spokane,” featuring Dovearmitage, begins with a nice piano only to transition into a very melodic and beautiful guitar riff. Alongside the heavenly chorus and back-up vocals provided by Dovearmitage, Goyard amazingly dabbles in both ends of the rap-rock spectrum. This track can be best described as an underground rap version of “Empire Ants” by Gorillaz featuring Little Dragon.
Through amazing sample choices and some of the best beat switches and transitions to come from the underground scene, Goyard has created one of the best pieces of 2025. Surely Goyard will begin to start receiving flowers and notoriety for his 10-plus years of hard work.
