Two girls indoor track relay teams earned medals in championships over the weekend.
The girls distance medley relay, consisting of junior Molly Gorman, freshman Cheyanne Trout, sophomore Laila Ruvolo, and junior Kenzie Bowen earned second place. The 4×800 relay team, consisting of Gorman, Bowen, Trout and freshman Alana Ipolito, earned seventh place.
”It has been a long season for the distance team. We worked really hard to get where we are,” Trout said.
“Kenzie Bowen and I ran the same time – we both ran a 2:37. That was my season best.
Alana ran her best time on her 4×8.”
It was a big day for everyone on both teams, she said.
“It feels really good because it feels like recognition for working hard all season,” Trout said. “We all put a lot of time in running and I enjoy getting to know the team and getting the experiences so early.”
Junior Alex Castaneda said that the whole team did well.
“We placed well and overall just did what we were supposed to,” Castaneda said. “I know our coach expected a lot from us because it was the indoor season and it shows that we will do even better in the spring.”
This was the last event for indoor track and the outdoor season starts in March.
