Baldwin’s Marvel Rivals esports team fell to 1-1 on the season after the Highlanders were defeated 3-0 on Thursday by Clifton High School of New Jersey.
Marvel Rivals is a team-based shooting game inspired by the Marvel movies. Each person gets to choose their own character from the Marvel franchise.
Head Coach Nathan Elias said there is much for the team to improve upon.
“We have a lot of work to do, specifically to improve on our team play and our communication in the upcoming weeks,” Elias said.
Junior Zach Czapko said that Baldwin was just simply outmatched.
“They were all high ranked, and we only have two people who are in the higher ranks. Everybody else is in the lower percentile,” Czapko said.
Czapko also said that while he usually stays positive, he couldn’t because the match was a lost cause.
“Both the coaches noticed during the middle of the match that our morale had dropped after the second game,” Czapko said. “We could not keep a positive morale because they were just beating us that hard.”
The team will find out their next opponent next week.
