The Baldwin hockey team lost to Armstrong 3-2 on Thursday night.
This loss ended the Highlanders’ hopes of making the playoffs, as they had needed to win their last three games of the season.
Junior Nate Buys said the team’s effort was there on Thursday, but they just couldn’t get it done.
“Everyone played with high intensity knowing how much this game meant to our season, but our defense down the stretch wasn’t the best,” Buys said.
Buys said seniors Gabe Herrle and Teegan Berry left it all on the ice.
“Gabe and Teegan both played very well offensively and played with a high motor the entire game,” Buys said.
Armstrong’s offense is what propelled them to victory.
“They had some players who were very quick, and that led to them getting a lot of good shots on the net,” Buys said.
Although the Highlanders are eliminated from reaching the playoffs, there is always a positive way to look at everything.
“There isn’t much to look forward to for the rest of this season, but now the returning players next year can really start preparing for next season,” Buys said.
The Highlanders’ next game will be at 8:30 p.m. Monday against Norwin at Palmer Imagine Arena.
