Baldwin girls basketball defeated Elizabeth Forward in their final game of the season on Monday, 77-50.
The team was able to keep their lead throughout the whole game. They were able to keep the ball on offense and make the smart plays to gain points.
Sophomore Lynsey Bernotas really stood out during the game, earning the team 23 points, senior Mary Vargo said.
“She did really well during the game. She had really good takes and was on point during defense,” Vargo said.
The team as a whole did really well keeping the pressure on Elizabeth Forward, making them make mistakes, sophomore Kelsey Meyer said. Meanwhile, the Baldwin offense converted its opportunities.
“We had really good defense and made the extra pass on offense, which turned into a lot of points for us,” Vargo said.
The team was nervous going into their last regular season game, but they overcame the nerves and won the game.
“We started the game off pretty slow because I think everyone was a little nervous, but we ended up playing a really good game,” Meyer said.
The Highlanders play the first round of WPIAL playoffs away at Chartiers Valley at 8 p.m. Friday.
