The Baldwin gymnastics team placed fourth at WPIALs over the weekend, with senior Abby Rexrode finishing as all all-around silver medalist.
Rexrode earned gold in the bars, silver in both the vault and the beam, and a bronze in the floor routine in the top division, Diamond. Rexrode has had an impressive career at Baldwin: In her first three years of WPIAL competition, she was named all-around champion.
“I was happy with how I performed this weekend,” Rexrode said. “I was excited to have made my routines and scored well in every event.”
Another standout for the Highlanders was junior Ella Scurry, who placed fourth in the bars in the Gold division.
As a team, Baldwin finished fourth of six teams, after finishing third last year. Rexrode was happy with the team’s performance.
“I am very proud of how the team did and placed at WPIALs,” Rexrode said. “There were many amazing routines that contributed to the team score. We had very few errors and the competition was successful.”
The team now advances to states in two weeks.
