The Baldwin bowling team took its first loss of the year on Wednesday against Carlynton.
The Highlanders had already won the section title, however. Carlynton had two losses going into the match.
Senior Kelson Kleinhampl said the Highlanders knew Carlynton was going to be a team to watch out for.
“Carlynton beat us twice last year. So we came into the match knowing they were good,” Kleinhampl said.
Baldwin needs to work on picking up spares, he said. Despite the loss, though, Kleinhampl said the Highlanders stayed strong throughout the match.
“Our team morale stayed high even though we knew it was over,” Kleinhampl said.
One standout bowler for the Highlanders on Wednesday was sophomore Devin Stanziano. He moved up to varsity and bowled a 279, Kleinhampl said.
Next up for Baldwin is WPIALs on Wednesday.
