The boys and girls swim teams lost to Plum on Thursday.
The boys team had some bright spots, including junior Brayden Kuch’s efforts.
“Brayden Kuch had an outstanding performance. He was in off events and competed very well, getting first and second,” senior Nathaniel McWilliams said.
McWilliams was indifferent about his personal performance.
“I did all right. I dropped two seconds in my 200 Individual Medley, but unfortunately my 500 time was a second worse than my best,” McWilliams said.
McWilliams is trying to qualify for WPIALs. He is six seconds away in his Individual Medley and eight seconds away in the 500.
On the girls team, senior Chloe Griffiths was proud of her performance, but she is pushing to break her own record.
“I performed decently but not as well as I was hoping,” Griffiths said. “I’m currently getting very consistent times that I’m having a difficult time breaking.”
Griffiths appreciated junior Katie Gruendler’s hard work at the meet.
“Katie Gruendler performed well,” Griffiths said. “She just got back from having pneumonia and she still swam strong during her 100 backstroke.”
Griffiths said the team can improve by turning into the walls faster. She acknowledged that Plum swam well.
“Overall, they had a lot of strong swimmers and they outnumbered us by a lot,” Griffiths said. “Their performances in the water looked great.”
Baldwin’s next meet is Monday, which will be their senior recognition meet.
