Baldwin junior Ethan Bell studies automotive mechanics at Steel Center, with a goal of eventually working in the nuclear energy field.
“A career goal of mine is to seek high-level education in engineering, and branch out into nuclear engineering to help find a way for fusion reactions to be used for energy across the world,” Bell said. “I plan to go to Pitt for mechanical engineering, so this will help me understand different theories and work on modern technology.”
Bell is one of the most recent Top of the Shop award winners at Steel Center. He was excited to earn the recognition.
“My initial reaction to knowing that I won this award was the gratification of knowing my efforts around my area of study at Steel Center are being recognized,” Bell said.
Senior Jayden Shafer, meanwhile, has been studying medical professions at Steel Center for three years. Shafer is a winner of the Student of the Month Award.
“I feel very honored,” Shafer said. “It is a big achievement. I have many family members that are part of the medical field, so it’s nice to be recognized.”
Shafer believes her experience and leadership abilities led her to recognition.
“I have been helping other students, like the first years, get their work done and help them figure things out,” she said.
Other Baldwin students who earned the most recent Top of the Shop award include Logan Kelly, Averee Kenny, and Cody Garrett. Extra Effort award winners include Madeline Nairn, and Evan Wigfall.
Student of the Month award winners include Brady Evans, Rebecca Knight, Chase Mussomeli, Allura Stephenson, Steven Evanitz, Brooklyn Joyce, James Williams, and Jada Palmer.
