The boys basketball team came back to defeat rival Peters Township 61- 57 on Tuesday night.
Peters had been able to take an eight-point lead near the end of the third quarter thanks to their ability to score in the paint.
“They were able to consistently beat us on the inside during their third quarter run,” senior Jaden Duttine said.
But Baldwin would go on to out score Peters 15-6 in the fourth quarter to complete their comeback win. A big key to the comeback was causing turnovers to slow down Peters’ offense.
“We started pressing them and caused turnovers,” Duttine said.
Baldwin also made clutch shots down the stretch of the game.
“We made shots when we needed to the most,” he said.
While forced turnover helped Baldwin win this one, they need to improve on not turning the ball over themselves.
“We need to cut down on our turnovers,” Duttine said.
Duttine credited the efforts of senior Nate Wesling and junior Max Marzina.
“They were our top two scorers and made clutch shots near the end of the game,” he said.
Baldwin will be away against Trinity on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
