XO, Kitty season two is a K-pop drama series that branches off from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movies, which in turn were based on novels.
The main character, Kathrine Song-Covey (Anna Cathcart), who goes by Kitty, started in season one moving to Korea to go to school with her boyfriend. Along the way, she found out a lot about her mother, who had passed away.
Season one ended with her being expelled from her school, K.I.S.S. Season two starts with her being welcomed back to school, thanks to her friend Yuri (Gia Kim).
While back at school, Kitty promises to not focus so much on her romance problems and instead try to concentrate on school. Trouble immediately starts when Kitty realises she will be rooming with her old crush, Yuri, and Yuri’s current girlfriend.
Kitty tries to push her feelings away and focuses on learning more about her mother and family. She finds out she has an entire secret side of her family and is determined to track them down. She succeeds in contacting some family members, but they are hesitant at first to connect.
This season consists of many different twists, ranging from romance to family drama and so more. The suspense and mysteries make the show entertaining to watch and easily a step up from season one.
New characters are introduced along with the original ones making a return – and there is a surprise appearance by a beloved character from the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series.
The drama and many romance tropes can be confusing or annoying, so people who don’t enjoy that may not enjoy this show. But for everyone else, this second season is definitely worth watching.
