The boys swim team advanced to 5-3 overall with a 79-78 win over Shaler, while the girls team was defeated 104-33 on Tuesday.
Sophomore Nathan Loshelder thought the boys performed well during the meet.
“Even though Shaler got up and was moving fast, we were able to keep up, and eventually get the win,” Loshelder said. “We were very positive and supportive to each other throughout the meet, which made it so much more enjoyable.”
Junior Carter Smeal standed out during the meet.
“Carter really stepped up for us. He was able to give all of his effort and shave a lot of time off of his 500,” Loshelder said.
Sophomore Alexis Bendel thought the girls did well despite loss.
“Even though we lost, we still tried our best despite having fewer team members than they did,” Bendel said.
The team has some things that can be improved upon for the next matchup.
“I believe the team just has to keep pushing through even though it’s getting towards the end of the season,” Bendel said.
Baldwin’s next matchup is away at Central Catholic on Jan. 23.
