The Baldwin gymnastics team came in first in a Friday meet and second in a Sunday meet.
On Friday, Baldwin narrowly edged out Thomas Jefferson, scoring 137.6 points to TJ’s 137.5 points.
Senior Abby Rexrode, who was competing for the first time since breaking her thumb, said that the floor routines are where Baldwin really stood out.
“Our best performance was our floor routines,” Rexrode said. “Those are where we came out with the high score, and that put us ahead of most teams.”
Rexrode said that Sophia Rossa and Charlotte Fauls had standout performances.
On Sunday, the Highlanders finished second to TJ, 140.2 to 139.75. Still, it was a strong meet for Baldwin, Rexrode said.
“On vault, we had a lot more people land their vaults,” she said.
She also said the gymnastics worked well as a team.
Their next meet is at 7 p.m. Friday at home against TJ.
“It will be one of our bigger meets of the season,” Rexrode said.
