The gymnastics team took home third place at the Happy New Year High School Invitational at Kiski Area High School over the weekend.
Junior Jewell Stevens said the team did very well despite having two gymnasts out, which affected their overall score.
“Everyone went out and competed amazingly and did very well,” Stevens said.
The team is working on their technique for upcoming meets.
“We need to work on everyone staying on beam and being more consistent, with no wobbles,” Stevens said.
During the invitational, the team showed much improvement.
“The team is seeing an overall improvement in our strength and endurance to get through routines,” Stevens said.
Senior Addie Holmes said the team is working really hard but needs to keep pushing during practices to improve their scores in meets. Holmes said that although she would have hoped for first place at the invitational, she’s really proud of her teammates for trying their hardest to earn their best scores.
Both girls recognized Sophia Rossa for her performance during the invitational.
The next competitions are on Friday at Roots Gymnastics and Sunday at Ultimate Gymnastics.
