Season two of Arcane is a tragic one that makes it one of the best animated series out there.
Arcane, produced by Fortiche Productions, is based on the game League of Legends, with the backstories based on the lore from the game.
The story takes place in two main areas: Piltover and Zaun, also known as the “Undercity” by Piltover. Piltover and Zaun are constantly fighting each other.
The show has multiple storylines, but the main storyline concerns two sisters who live in Zaun, Vi and Jinx. When they were younger in season one, Jinx, originally named Powder, accidentally caused more harm than good, killing her friends and father.
Other storylines focus on inventors Jayce and Viktor, who create a new piece of technology called Hextech. This magical piece of technology, accessible to everyone who cannot use magic, helps make weapons and more protected buildings.
The storylines are more fleshed out throughout the season, as viewers learn more about side characters such as Mel, the daughter of Ambessa; Viktor, who mysteriously gains a new power; and Ekko, who wants to protect the tree, which is a symbol of hope for Zaun.
Both seasons are very fast-paced compared to other shows. However, season two barely gives the viewers a rest before another major event occurs. The fast pacing, which can be a bad thing for most shows, works out well for this series.
The storylines are built to perfection, and they managed to close all of the character’s storylines, even with the fast pacing. The animation is also really well done, from displaying emotions to the tiniest details.
However, an issue with the show is that there are basically no mourning scenes for any of the characters’ deaths. The main protagonists have their death scenes, and they are never mentioned again.
Overall, the show is awesome that more people should watch.
