Around the holidays, many heartwarming, comedic, and entertaining advertisements pop up. Some are so iconic that they will not be forgotten and reappear each year.
As a Pittsburgh tradition, Eat’n Park puts out a Christmas tree commercial each year. This tradition started in 1982 and the commercial airs every year.
It features a star attempting to jump onto a Christmas tree. The Christmas tree then bends down and helps the star to light up the snowy background. This shows the helping theme of the Christmas season and draws people to the warm atmosphere of an Eat’n Park.
Among funny holiday ads, the 1996 M&M commercial titled “They do exist!” is hilarious and iconic.
In the living room, the yellow and red M&M characters are sneaking around the Christmas tree. They run into Santa and they are all shocked. Santa yells “They do exist!” just before he faints.
Featuring Santa allows this ad to appeal to children and make them laugh.
Another favorite holiday commercial is the 1995 Coca-Cola ad called “Holidays are coming.” The advertisement features many big red Coca-Cola trucks with Christmas lights on the side driving a very long trip.
People are amazed as the trucks drive by and their world magically lights up. This combines the iconic Coca-Cola Santa with the magic feeling of Christmas.
Finally, the Hershey’s Kisses “Holiday Bells” commercial features the well-known tune of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.” The holiday-wrapped candies seem to move and dance along with the song.
This simple commercial is catchy and has been stuck in people’s heads during the holiday season since 1989.
Overall, Christmas would not be the same without these iconic Christmas commercials.
