The Baldwin bowling team defeated Seton LaSalle 3-0 on Wednesday in its first match of the season.
The dominating first match was a good way to kick off the team’s season.
“This win has definitely given the team some new motivation, as we know we have the potential to be good this year,” senior Kelson Kleinhampl said. “We’re also very motivated to put in some extra practice and work even harder now.”
Senior Nico Puglin was happy with the team’s first performance.
“Our team bowled really well overall,” Puglin said. “We adjusted nicely to challenges, which led to our win.”
The team was consistent and bowled a lot of strikes, Kleinhampl said. Puglin doesn’t believe the team can improve much after Wednesday’s performance.
“I don’t think there are really any improvements for us to make, as we are a strong team,” Puglin said.
One of the Highlanders who was a key to the shutout win was senior Jonathan Clemons.
“Jon is very consistent and he makes up all of his spares,” Kleinhampl said.
While Kleinhampl also believes the team had a good performance, he knows he can improve on picking up spares in his personal game, he said.
Puglin was satisfied with his performance.
“I bowled over a 170 average, which I am happy with,” Puglin said.
The team’s next match is Friday against Neighborhood Academy.
