In the action-comedy movie Red One, Santa is kidnapped and one of the men responsible for his abduction must rescue him.
The story begins with Santa being kidnapped by a mysterious group. All of his bodyguards rush to try to rescue him, but they fail.
Eventually, the hacker who found Santa’s base is revealed to be Jack O’Malley (Chris Evans). O’Malley is forced to team up with Santa’s personal bodyguard, Callum Drift (Dwayne Johnson), to find Santa’s location and rescue him.
The movie has great action scenes with realistic use of CGI. Combined with the humor, the movie has many strengths.
Despite the good parts of the movie, some moments feel exaggerated – like when Drift isn’t fazed or injured after starting an avalanche. The story also has pacing issues, with it moving too quickly and ending with plot holes left unresolved.
Even though the movie has these flaws, it has more good parts than not.
Overall, Red One is worth watching for viewers who enjoy action and comedy. Although the movie is different from regular Christmas films in that it takes a more comedic approach to the genre, this is what separates it from the others and gives it a sense of originality.
