Morgan Wallen has been nominated for seven Country Music Association awards this year, four of them related to his duet with Post Malone on the song “I Had Some Help.”
The duet is definitely one that should be recognized at the CMAs, which will be broadcast Wednesday night on ABC, but it does not deserve to win in all four categories. The song should win Musical Event of the year, but that should be the only category.
Wallen also is nominated for Entertainer of the Year, but he should not win. He will have major competition from Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs. Combs should win because of his most recent album, Fathers & Sons.
The relatively new artist Jelly Roll is up for three nominations this year. He has a higher chance of winning against the other artists because of his active social media presence. He does not have much competition for the Male Vocalist of the Year award.
Jelly Roll is also one scheduled to be one of the many performers at the show, singing a song from his most recent album called “Believe.” It should be a strong performance, since he was the opening act at the 2023 award show and brought an unbelievable performance to the stage.
Zach Bryan was only nominated for one award this year. He was nominated with artist Kacey Musgraves on their duet, “I Remember Everything.” His newest album, The Great American Bar Scene, should have been nominated for Album of the Year, but it was overlooked.
