The competitive cheer team’s mat team finished in first place and the competitive team took third during a competition in Johnstown on Saturday.
Freshman Josie Mohring thought both teams did well overall.
“I think we did well with keeping sharp and remembering what we were supposed to do and just staying up before somebody was going to fall,” Mohring said. “I think we are getting better, because we had a few different injuries which set us back, and now that they are back we are getting better at our routine.”
Mohring also thought there were things the team could improve on.
“Just not rushing and taking our time on each section would have helped us,” Mohring said.
Senior Alayna Scanlon stood out during the competition. “Alayna always stands out. She’s always really loud – I can hear her really well,” Mohring said.
Both teams have already qualified for nationals at Disney in February.
