Junior Alex Castaneda competed at the cross country state championship in Hershey over the weekend.
He placed 190 out of 250 in the race. Despite the prestige of making it to states in the first place, Castaneda said he was a little disappointed in his performance.
“There were more people I had to keep an eye out for, but in the end, I didn’t prepare myself enough,” Castaneda said.
He also acknowledged that the absence of his teammates made a difference in his morale.
“I didn’t have my team there to support me as much and that kind of messed me up,” he said.
Castaneda said he was proud of making it to states and appreciated the experience. He was also happy with how his team did overall this season, and said he hoped to make states again next year with his team.
“I’d like to make states as a team next year, instead of just me making them,” Castaneda said.
